Creator of Made in USA Brand Says Red, White & Blue is New Green

Certification Mark Program to Enhance U.S. Brands
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Conrad Phillips Vutech, a Columbus, Ohio-based branding and marketing firm, today announced that one of the company’s principals and senior art director, Marcie Gabor, has developed the Made in USA Brand Certification Mark, which serves as a consistent identifier of products manufactured or grown in the United States.
“Consumers are becoming increasingly interested in buying goods made in America because they associate them with higher quality and reliability than products made in other countries,” said Gabor. “In fact, you could say that red, white, and blue is the new green,” she said. Gabor, who developed the concept and program, sees the Made in USA Brand Certification Mark as an important brand enhancement and a clear way for U.S. businesses that meet accreditation standards to differentiate themselves from competitors, and is available for download at no fee for accredited U.S. businesses at http://www.madeintheusabrand.com/form/
“I began to notice that there was no consistent way of identifying for consumers which companies manufacture here in the States,” Gabor said. “Now, though, the Made in USA Brand Certification Mark provides that consistency.” One of the first companies to take advantage of the Made in USA Brand Certification Mark program was Mumoocie, Inc., a business that manufactures an innovative pillow that helps young children learn to sleep on their own instead of in their parents’ beds.
“I invented the pillow because my own child was afraid to sleep alone,” said Leigh Woods, company co-founder and its director of sales and marketing. “It was important to me to put something of quality beside my child, so I knew I wanted it manufactured here in the U.S., and I wouldn’t settle for anything less.”
Woods believes that consumers associate the Made in USA mark with quality, which drove her decision to get certified. “People see quality as a ‘you get what you pay for’ issue,” she said. “They look for products manufactured here, and the Made in USA Brand Certification Mark helps them find them.”
